Proximity Is Not Leverage

Getting in the room is step one. Knowing what to say when you’re there is what moves capital.

“Get in the Room” Isn’t Enough

Everyone's shouting it now:

“Get in the room.”

“Expand your circle.”

“Your net worth is your network.”

But here’s what no one’s telling you:

What happens when you do get in the room… and freeze?

You shake hands, smile… and realize you’ve got nothing to say.

No leverage. No strategy

You’re present, but invisible.

And in billion dollar rooms, invisibility is expensive.

You can’t fumble when it’s play time.

You’ve got to train before the lights turn on.

So, what’s the prep work?

Before the “room,” comes research, positioning, and pre-alignment.

There’s clarity in value: know exactly what problem you solve and who benefits from it. Don’t just introduce yourself, introduce a reason to remember you.

Learn to speak the language of deals.

Whether it’s M&A, capital raising, or strategic partnerships: you’ll only unlock high value convos if you know how to ask the right questions, fast.

Prep like this:

  • Study the people in the room. What are they building? What do they need?

  • Build a micro-thesis: Why are YOU relevant in their world?

  • Practice telling your story with clarity in under 60 seconds, provide value first.

  • Come with insight, not just interest.

You don’t rise to the level of your ambition.

You fall to the level of your preparation.

Get in the room, yes.

But get there already playing at the level the room demands.
