My Million $ Mistake (And Why I’m Glad It Happened)

The lesson that costed me the most but made me a sharper investor.

Hey bestie,

Let’s talk about one of the most expensive lessons I’ve ever learned:

The time I lost 6 commas on a deal. Yes $$$,$$$

Yup. Real money. Real mistake. Real lesson.

Here’s what went down (short version):

  • I got too comfortable. Trusted the wrong people. Money was lost.

  • Didn’t double check the deal or operator the way I should’ve.

  • I was in full execution mode and ignored red flags because the deal felt exciting.

That excitement cost me multiple six figures and ongoing stress to recoup the loss 😩

But here’s what I gained:

A whole new level of due diligence
A process I never skip now even for “easy” deals
More confidence to walk away from deals that don’t feel right

💡 The cost of rushing is always more expensive than the cost of waiting.

So this week I want you to check yourself before you jump into your next big “opportunity”:

🧠 Do you really know your numbers?
🧠 Who double checked the details?
🧠 Do you know, like, trust the person you’re investing with?
🧠 Is there any layer of additional protection if ALL plans fail?
🧠 Will this operator/founder show up even IF things go wrong?
🧠 Can you afford to lose this money or have unexpected delays?
🧠 Are you in love with the deal… or just the idea of doing a deal?

Mistakes will happen. But if we share them, we all get better.

I’m grateful for this lesson because it made me 10x sharper and way more fearless.

Money can be earned. Headaches can be prevented. Knowledge is non-negotiable.

xoxo,
