Monopoly: The Childhood Game That Made Me a Business woman

Capital Conversations | From the Desk of Anan Momin

When I think about what shaped my mindset around business, wealth, and strategy,
I don’t just think about boardrooms, spreadsheets, or even my first franchise.

I think about Monopoly.

Those marathon Monopoly games from my childhood weren’t just fun
they were my first lessons in wealth-building, negotiating, and playing the long game.

Back then, I didn’t know it.
But now, looking back through the lens of an entrepreneur, investor, and serial franchisee,
I see how those nights shaped me.

🏙 Cash flow is the heartbeat of success.

You can own half the board, but without liquidity, you’re in trouble.

Cash flow kept me in the game, and today, it’s what keeps businesses, real estate, and investments thriving.

Assets are great, but cash flow keeps you in power.

💸 Every deal is negotiable and timing is everything.

Some of my best Monopoly wins came from trades no one else saw coming.

That childhood practice of reading the board, timing my moves, and creating deals taught me the art of negotiation, a skill I now use in every acquisition and partnership conversation.

🏗 Assets > liabilities. Always.

The magic of Monopoly? The moment I stopped just playing to pass GO and started playing to own the board.

I focused on building up properties, adding houses, stacking hotels, until eventually…

👉 I became the bank.

My assets generated so much cash flow that I was the one others came to when they needed to mortgage properties or strike deals.

That’s what I teach and live through Bell Acquisitions, Bell Capital, and Capital Conversations:

Owning the right assets puts you in a position of strength, where you no longer play by someone else’s rules.

That moment when you stop playing by the rules… and start writing them.

🎯 Long-term vision beats short-term wins.

Monopoly taught me to ask: What’s going to set me up 10 turns from now?

That’s the same question I ask in every deal today.

Building real wealth means thinking ahead and playing smart.

🤝 Strategy + relationships = lasting success.

Even in a board game, relationships mattered.

The right deal, at the right time, with the right person, that’s where magic happens.

The same is true in business.
